I was thrilled to meet baby Ella.  I met her mom last year when she came to my studio for corporate head shots.  Months later, she contacted me to photograph her maternity session with Julia, the soon-to-be big sister! I had a great time with them. I could tell that Julia was going to be an awesome big sis!  Click here to see a few images from her maternity session.

Jennifer is a beautiful, smart woman and her daughters are absolutely precious. I’m looking forward to taking their family portraits very soon!

Wow, wow, wow! Darby had an incredible Bat Mitzvah ceremony and celebration.

I had never photographed a Bar or Bat Mitzvah before….in fact, that was the first thing I told Donna several months ago when she called to make an appointment with me. It didn’t matter to her; I had photographed her friend’s wedding, maternity and newborn portraits and she had liked what she had seen. She is also a photographer. So knowing that she’s a photographer and the fact that I’ve never photographed a Bat Mitzvah…….NO PRESSURE!!!!

I had learned through talking with my Jewish friends, with Donna and with my photographer friends that have photographed many Bat Mitzvahs, that family portraits play a big part on this very important occasion. The ceremony and the celebration was at Chestnut Ridge Country Club. I was excited because it is a gorgeous backdrop for portraits……but……it was raining. Fortunately, there was a decent size covered sidewalk that allowed us to set up the lights and position the different groupings quite easily.

The ceremony was unbelievably awesome. I can not speak or understand one word of Hebrew, but I know enough to know that Darby did a TERRIFIC job. It was really quite amazing.

Donna, you did a wonderful job planning Darby’s day! You had so many pieces coming together to form the perfect ceremony and celebration for your beautiful daughter. I am thrilled and honored to have been able to witness her day as it unfolded and to document it for you. Thank you. I loved meeting your family; they are beautiful, inside and out.

A huge shout out to Glyde and Ali and the amazing team of entertainers, complete with DJ’s, MC’s and the best dancers EVER. Check them out: Glyde Productions.  They kept the party flowing and worked seamlessly with one another and with the other vendors. THANKS guys, you were amazing.

Robert Grosshandler of Parties by Terrye was “absolutely fantastic” says Donna. “I can’t rave enough about him!!!” Robert helped her with all of the decorations and the setup of the Country Club.

I had many goals for this very significant day: to capture (ONE): the true significance of this very important day, (TWO): the love this beautiful family has for one another, (THREE): the intelligence and creativity that Darby exudes, (AND FOUR): the love and joy that filled every square inch of Chestnut Ridge Country Club during Darby’s incredible service and celebration.

I hope you enjoy this slideshow that I made for Darby. It was a very difficult task of narrowing down the pictures; there were so many great, different aspects of her day.  I really wanted to include about 300 images!!…but finally I narrowed it down.  Please sit back and enjoy…

for Mary Elizabeth!

Jen and Bill welcomed Mary Elizabeth into their family yesterday afternoon. She is absolutely adorable.

We arranged to document her big brothers’ reactions as they met her for the first time. It was nothing short of magnificent. It didn’t take William and Ford long to fall in love with this precious bundle of pinkness. She’s a princess and so blessed to have 2 wonderful big brothers and Jen and Bill as parents.

proved to be a fantastic time for everyone!

We began our day at Lori’s house where we met her family and the great girls standing up for her. Whitney, from Split Ends Salon in Severna Park, was doing hair and makeup for the girls. Each girl had a beautiful and unique style that suited them perfectly. Great job Whitney!  It was nice to hang out with Lori’s family and bridal party for a few hours; we were able to see their true personalities and the love that they share for one another.

We headed to Overhills Mansion in Catonsville, a beautiful location for their ceremony and reception.  I had previously photographed a reception at Overhills and was looking forward to working there again.  Being a photographer at a wedding, your eyes always move so that you can anticipate and capture the moments of the day.  You can’t help but notice the details of the location and the staff.  Tracy (my awesome 2nd shooter) and I were really impressed with the service staff the last time we were there.  They seemed to really “get” that the wedding is the most important day, so far,  in the couple’s life.  Each of their staff members certainly had their best foot forward and were very attentive and professional.  The same held true for Lori and Chris’s special day.  Huge kudos Brandy and to the White House Caterers and Overhills Mansion staff.

Chris and Lori had decided to have their “first look” prior to their ceremony.  The landscape of Overhills Mansion allowed for a beautiful backdrop for their special moment as well as their ceremony.

Gorgeous flower arrangements were made by Judy, of Flowers by Judy.  She chose some beautiful, fresh, colorful arrangements.

Their cake was made by Patti Kake.  Lori said it was delicious and her guests truly agreed!

on a gorgeous day in Baltimore.

They were happily married at Westminster Hall, a beautiful, converted Gothic church built above Westminster Burying Ground.  Edgar Allan Poe, several mayors of Baltimore and heroes of the American Revolution have found their final resting place there.

Paul and Amy decided to have their “First Look” prior to their ceremony.  Paul anxiously waited for Amy….

Once Amy arrived and Paul turned around to see her, I had goose bumps. They were so sweet with one another.

I’ve noticed a trend from my wedding couples lately, and I have to say, I LOVE it. Instead of giving favors to each of their guests to take home, they are donating money to a charity. Amy and Paul chose to donate to Baltimore’s Viva House, a soup kitchen and Catholic Worker community.

Jennifer is almost 38 weeks pregnant in these images. Isn’t she GORGEOUS??

I met Jennifer last year when she needed corporate head shots for her company’s website. And honestly she didn’t look any different now than she did when she wasn’t pregnant, except now she has a cute little belly.

Jennifer, thanks so much for this beautiful honor of photographing you and Julia. I am looking forward to meeting your baby and taking more beautiful portraits of you all!!! My thoughts and prayers are with you for a wonderful delivery. Congratulations!

Kristin contacted me after checking out my website. She liked the “realness” that she saw in my photos; it was important to her that the personalities of everyone were captured. She wanted to get the “look at the camera and smile” pictures done first so we could catch the fun candids as well…..right up my alley!! Her sister would be visiting from Colorado and they wanted family portraits of both families. I enjoyed our phone conversation and knew we’d have a great time photographing everyone.

When I arrived at their home, I was greeted by smile after smile. Grown ups and kids….great, pleasant smiles! When we had previously spoken, Kristin wasn’t sure if her husband would be able to be home for the portraits…I was happy to see that he could take a break from work; it wouldn’t have been the same without him.

I have to start out by saying I had a complete blast with Kim and Rodger. They are so comfortable with each other and with the love that they share; it was extremely easy to spend the afternoon with them.

This couple eats, breathes and sleeps Baltimore. So, it was no surprise when they told me that they wanted to have their e-session in Baltimore. We started on Federal Hill, stopped by their house (and I got to meet their adorable baby….doggy) and then over to Ft. McHenry. They really wanted to showcase their city of Baltimore as well as their love and I believe we accomplished just that!!
