Katie and Scott make a trip from Massachusetts…

30 04 2008

and we were able to get together for their engagement session. Katie and I had spoken many times on the phone. Meeting Katie over the phone was like talking to an old friend, there was a genuine connection. I was really looking forward to meeting this awesome couple.
Photobucket

They have a fantastic love story that dates back to Katie moving to Florida to attend college. She met a guy named Chris on her second day of school and they became friends. Chris later introduced Katie to his best friend, Scott, when Scott visited from Boston. Fast forward…Scott and Katie now live in Boston and are awaiting their November wedding! That’s the abridged version!! Good job Chris!! 😀

We met at Ft. McHenry on a beautiful, sunny, cool day. Katie is from this area and I was so glad that she suggested this spot. I always like my couples to pick a place that means something to them whenever possible. Ft. McHenry has trails galore. Katie and Scott have run many races (a goal is the Boston Marathon!!) and have used this scenic area for training runs. They may be running the Baltimore Marathon just a few weeks before they get married!! 🙂 You can do it!!!

Here are some of my favorites from our fantastic time together. I look at the colors of these pictures and how bright and vibrant they are and instantly see the parallels to Katie and Scott’s personalities. They are fun-laid-back-enjoy-life type of people with vibrant, loving personalities.

They were always laughing with one another…

So cute of Katie. She’s as warm and friendly as this picture illustrates…

Katie and Scott, thank you for interviewing me and choosing me to document this incredible time of your life. It was great spending time with you both. Scott, you’re a great man, I know you’ll be a terrific husband! A bonus was to be able to meet your father and grandfather Katie! I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of your families and your friends.

13 more days until Karen and Scott get married…

27 04 2008

and we met up at University of Maryland to spend some time together for their engagement shoot. Photographers Robin Single and Debbie Scalise are going to be photographing their ceremony for me so they met with us as well. It was fun working with both of them and I know they will capture the beauty and magic of Karen and Scott’s ceremony.

Okay, let’s get started with University of Maryland vs. Duke. Scott graduated from U of MD. Karen brought a few “props” with her for their campus photoshoot. U of MD has the Terrapin as their mascot. My husband went to U of MD also, and I never quite understood their slogan, “Fear the Turtle”…like who can’t run from a turtle!!!…pahleeeezzee!!!! 😉 Here’s the future husband and wife team posing with the big, bad turtle…check out who’s wearing the Duke Blue Devil horns….

Scott, when Johnny saw this picture, he said “He let that happen??” 😀

Karen and Scott are really fun to work with. They are fun, smart, sexy and easy going! Aren’t they gorgeous…

Here are just a few of my favorites from our afternoon together…

Thanks for a fun afternoon! Karen, you a one smart and beautiful woman, Scott you represent the Sigma Chi’s well! It’s been really nice getting to know you over the last few months and working with you both. I’m looking forward to seeing you at your reception! I hope these next couple of weeks are enjoyable and relaxing for you.

Robin and Debs, your pictures from the e-session are amazing. I appreciate you working with me and consider it an honor! Thanks.

Mary and Walter, thank you for referring me to another awesome couple! xoxo

Meghan and Jay’s fun engagement session…

21 04 2008

What a blast I had when I got together with Meghan and Jay for their engagement session. They are so much fun. Meghan’s smile is contagious…Jay is a prince who treats her like a princess…and together they make one fantastic couple!

We met on Main Street in Annapolis and I couldn’t have asked for better lighting. It was a beautiful afternoon with a beautiful couple. A slight breeze filled the air while the sun seemed to assist me at all the right times!
Photobucket

I made a subtle 😉 suggestion that they share a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream cone…there was no arm twisting needed!
Photobucket

Photobucket

There are so many awesome places (read:  streets) to dance!!!! Jay was amazing, never complained, out loud 😉  , when I found yet another great place for him to show us his fancy footwork.  Here he is in the middle of Main Street illustrating his finesse while Meghan gets a little sassy…
Photobucket

I LOVE this picture! Jay was wooing Meghan with his fine repertoire of Rap songs while dancing…and…well…
Photobucket

A little more sass from Meghan…

Love, love this one. The sky was a gorgeous backdrop for this awesome couple.

We ended our evening together with a really yummy dinner and great conversation at the Harbor House on the docks. Thanks so much Meghan and Jay for a fun and wonderful afternoon and evening. How lucky I am to be able to document this wonderful time in your lives…thanks for the honor.

Your wedding day is going to be spectacular!…so is your life together.

A great family…

17 04 2008

I had so much fun spending time with Rebecca, Art and the ever-so-cute “4 and 3/4” year old Jacob. Rebecca and Art are extremely nice and pleasant…..and plainly speaking, so enjoyable.

Rebecca and Art were recently married in an intimate ceremony a couple of weeks ago. They wanted formal pictures taken and we were able to get together last weekend.
Photobucket

It was truly a joy watching this wonderful family interact with one another. Jacob and Art were so silly together. Rebecca is a complete doll and a wonderful mother.

Here’s a cute picture of Jacob after kissing his mommy…
Photobucket

I love that you can see Art’s silly side in this picture…
Photobucket

Jacob loves playing with fire trucks…his daddy is a fire fighter. He brought over some great trucks…

Jacob leads the way…

Rebecca and Art, I had such a nice time with you all. I truly enjoyed my time with you. I wish you a wonderful future filled with love and laughter.

Donna, thank you for referring me and for giving them a gift certificate for their photo session.

A wonderful day with Becky and Trevor…

5 04 2008

Tracy and I were so excited to share last Saturday with Becky and Trevor.  They are a cute, fun, in-love, happy couple; we had a blast getting to know them during their engagement shoot and we knew their wedding day would be awesome.

Their wedding day was a beautiful one!

We met at Holy Family Catholic Church in Frederick, MD a couple of hours before the ceremony.   We were greeted right away by Father Kevin…warm and welcoming.  Both he and Gina, the Church coordinator, were great to work with and did a fantastic job!

I love this shot of Becky that Tracy captured…any sight of Trevor??…
Photobucket

After hair and makeup, arriving at the Church, getting dressed, having some of the formal pictures taken, as a bride seeing her dad for the first time, putting her garter on (which was made with part of her mother’s wedding dress), Becky was able to find a bit of peace prior to the ceremony…
Photobucket

This next image is one of my favorites from the day. It really shows the emotion of moment. Becky’s father, George, had just escorted his daughter into the Church, and ‘gave’ her to Trevor…
Photobucket

Newly married, here’s the elated couple as they walked out of the Church…
Photobucket

It was awesome to see Becky’s parents again and to meet her brothers and sister-in-law. I met Trevor’s family for the first time and can sincerely say that this couple is soooo blessed with the love and support that surrounds them.  It was a joy meeting their friends as well.

We didn’t have a lot of time before heading out to the reception, but we were able to take advantage of the beautiful day and got some fun shots…
Photobucket

…so sweet…
Photobucket

It was a breezy day, sometimes more like ‘windy’. Just when we thought we had the direction of the wind figured out, ol’ Mother Nature played games with us…
Photobucket

A beautiful picture of Becky and Trevor in the meditation garden at the Church…
Photobucket

Their reception was at Lynfield Event Complex. Dorlah is the event coordinator there and did an amazing job.

I love being able to get entire group pictures of a special occasion. Here’s Becky and Trevor with 200+ of their closest friends and family…
Photobucket

There were so many fantastic vendors with which we worked. Here’s a couple of images of their cake…
Photobucket

Photobucket

Joyce Seng is responsible for this amazing cake. Linda Romano created all of the gorgeous flower arrangements. Renaissance Chef, oh..my…gosh…prepared the food…it was AMAZING!!!!!

Dave from Soundsations rocked. He was totally in tune (no pun intended, I promise) with what Becky and Trevor’s wishes were as well as the guests. He had a vast and diverse selection of music.

Becky and Trevor, you have a terrific start to your life together. You’ve got so much on the ball, you are really terrific people and you have friends and family all over the place that love you dearly.
Photobucket

I appreciate you giving me this tremendous honor of documenting your wedding day for you. Tracy and I enjoyed capturing these memories. I know you’ll look back at your pictures 50 years from now and remember the special moments that took place on March 29, 2008!

Rockstar Roadtrip…

1 04 2008

starring Corey McNabb and Amber Holritz…comes to DC!!

I had the honor of attending Corey and Amber’s Rockstar Roadtrip workshop yesterday.  They are absolutely wonderful, talented and knowledgable photographers!

I was lucky enough to meet  Amber and her husband, Nathan,  last year  in Chicago at Pictage’s PartnerCon.  They are a great example of how a husband and wife team can successfully run a business together.

Corey spent the morning sharing ideas about wedding photography and Amber shared her knowledge on Lifestyle Portraiture in the afternoon.  Both offered great insight.  If you’re a photographer and have the oppotunity to check them out…do so!!!

Here’s Curt, our rep from Pixel2Canvas, Amber and Corey as they search for “something” (sorry I can’t divulge what it was) 😉 on the net…
Photobucket

After the informative morning and afternoon sessions and a Q & A session, they broke out the Rock Band.  Photogs jumped in to jam!  Here, Amber shows us how to rock with the best…

and Corey…

Rock on Corey and Amber. Thanks so much for making a stop in DC. We really appreciate you taking time away from your families and businesses to share with us!

Several terrific companies are sponsoring this event.  Photographer’s Edit is one of them.  What a great tool for busy photographers.  If you’re a photographer who is ‘time-challenged’ and find it difficult to edit your events or would like to spend more of your time shooting and less time behind the computer, check them out, they look fantastic!  Thank you Photographer’s Edit for a fabulous lunch!
