Catch our very special “Celebration of Smiles Day” Fundraiser on April 28th!

10 04 2018

It’s time to update your portrait!!

Pam Long Photography is participating in a very special fundraiser on Saturday, April 28, 2018. We will be hosting “Celebration of Smiles”, a wonderful opportunity for you to update individual portraits of your family members and at the same time support the work of Operation Smile.

Recording the smiles of children and their families is one of our greatest pleasures. That’s why we believe so strongly in the work of Operation Smile. Each year, this incredible organization of more than 5,000 volunteer doctors, nurses, dentists and specialized health care professionals, perform free reconstructive surgeries for children suffering from cleft lips, cleft palates, and other facial conditions.

A $24 donation is all it takes to have your individual portrait taken and to receive a 5×7 desk portrait! Each surgical procedure costs $240. So for every 10 people we photograph, a child receives the much-needed surgery!  Will you take advantage of this awesome offer and help these beautiful children? We’d like to raise enough money so that at least three children can receive surgical care from these incredible healthcare professionals. At Pam Long Photography, we only discount our session fees or products when we are fundraising. On Saturday, April 28th, you have the opportunity to receive a free 5×7 desk print for a minimum of $24 donation! That’s almost 1/5 of our normal price! And it all goes to this charity. And you don’t pay a session fee!  Hello?! What are you waiting for? Let’s have fun together recording YOUR smiles and raising money so those incredible children can smile too!

I love what Dr. Bill Magee and his wife, Kathy have to say about why they founded Operation Smile. I hope you take a moment to read their story, found here.

I hope you will join us Saturday, April 28th!  Contact us now, be amongst those 30 people!

Do I need to reserve my time? YES, absolutely! When we host these fundraisers, time slots fill quickly. We will reserve the time on our calendar that best suits your schedule and you will pay the donation fee(s) at that time. Example: If there are three people in your family participating in the fundraiser, we will reserve the 20-minute time slot and collect the $72 donation. Please keep in mind, first come, first served. Again, appointments will fill quickly!

What should we wear?  Great question. We will send you our special Tips and Suggestions to help guide you in preparing for your headshot!

Do we get to choose which photo we want or do you choose it for us? Of course! YOU get to view and choose which one(s) you’d like. Immediately after your session, you’ll see your images on the big screen and our staff will help you make your selections.

Do we choose the background? For this free session, we’ve chosen for it you. Our regular custom headshot sessions are designed specifically for your individual needs and can include a variety of backgrounds, including the beautiful outdoors. For this session, we are using a black background. For an extra charge, our retoucher can ‘extract’ you from the background, making it extremely easy to choose any digital background you may need. As a thank you for participating in this incredible fundraiser, you will receive a gift certificate for $25 off of a custom headshot session to use in the future.

Thank you for the gift of a 5×7, I will want additional copies, may I buy more? Absolutely!  We are happy to provide the 5×7 print as your gift, but it’s very common that people want additional prints for family members and their offices, and many times want the digital files for their images. You will have that option. Our regular prices are discounted for this fundraiser!

I need to update my LinkedIn profile…my website headshot…my dating site profile…my profile on my social media sites…my picture on my business card…if I buy the digital file may I use it for those purposes? YES! This is a fantastic opportunity to do so because the digital files are available for just $99 during this fundraiser (there’s even a greater, group discount if buying 3 or more)!

Can you take our family portrait while we’re there? Simple answer…perhaps. This fundraiser is specifically designed for individual portraits. IF time remains within your scheduled timeslot, I’m happy to do so, but my initial goal is to provide everyone with a fantastic, updated headshot. Each person or family that participates in our “Celebration of Smiles” Day will receive a gift certificate for $75 off a regular custom family portrait session to use in the future.

Can you take a portrait of my 3 children together instead of each one separately? With this particular fundraiser, PLP’s obligation to the charity is to provide one photograph for each person in exchange for the $24 donation. I would love the opportunity to schedule a custom portrait session with your family or children. As an additional thank you for participating in this fundraiser will receive a gift certificate for $75 off a regular custom family portrait session to use in the future. IF time remains within your scheduled timeslot, I’m happy to do so, but my initial goal is to provide everyone with a fantastic, updated headshot.

I know for your regular sessions our images are professionally retouched, will headshots taken during this promotion include retouching? Absolutely, yes! Your portraits will be handled with the same standard of excellence that our clients have grown accustomed to.

Sounds great, what do I do now? Contact us right away! We plan on photographing from 11:00am – 5:00pm on Saturday, 11/28. That leaves enough room for approximately 18-20 sessions.  And believe me, for a mini session and a 5×7 print in exchange for a $24 donation, the times will fill quickly. Call us at 410.988.5563. We are a busy, working studio, so if there is no answer then we are with clients, be sure to leave a message and follow up with an email to

Along with other participating members of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Pam Long Photography has pledged to donate 100% of each $24 donation made to PPA Charities, which has chosen Operation Smile as its charitable partner. We are looking forward to serving YOU and raising money together for Operation Smile. I’ve had the pleasure of working with PPA Charities for several years now and love the work they do and the partnerships they have formed with organizations like Operation Smile.

Ilchester Elementary prepares for a night at Camden Yards!

30 05 2011

Recently, the children and staff of Ilchester Elementary spent the morning with the very fun, hilariously animated Oriole Bird, the fantastic mascot for the Orioles!  Escorting the Bird were some of Howard County’s finest police officers.  And, although it was a dreary, rainy day outside, it was a bright and festive day inside the school!  Later that day, hundreds of the school children and their parents enjoyed a fun evening watching the game from the stands.

This was the seventh year that this phenomenal school community had attended Ilchester Night at Camden Yards!  Each year, several hundred people from Ilchester Elementary School make it an evening at Camden Yards.  When ticket sales begin, typically several weeks before the game day, the parents are asked if they’d consider purchasing an additional ticket to be used as a donation.  Donated tickets in the past have gone to the The Kennedy Krieger Institute as well as the Ronald McDonald House.

This year, for the third year in a row, the tickets were donated to the Howard County Police Department’s BearTrax Kids Program.  This is a mentoring program for elementary school children in Howard County who are deemed “at-risk” by their school administrations and would otherwise, for a variety of reasons, not have the opportunity to attend a baseball game.

The students at Ilchester are learning a valuable lesson about the differences between them and the caring of their neighbors.  Ilchester Elementary School is also fostering a wonderful relationship of cooperation between IES and the other elementary schools in Howard County, MD.  They hope to continue this for many years to come.  And, as a mother of two children at Ilchester, I hope they do too! 😀

Their night at Camden Yards was eventful, definitely a nail biter.  It went into 15 innings!!  Unfortunately, the Yankees walked away with the win on the scoreboard.  But I believe that the Ilchester staff, and children, along with their families, walked away with the win in their hearts!

Thank you to everyone at Ilchester, the Howard County Police Department and the Orioles organization for continuing to go above and beyond in providing for our children!  We certainly appreciate you! 🙂

I hope you enjoy this video of the student’s fun morning with the Oriole Bird!

Thank you!

A very successful fundraiser for Preston Scibek…

4 10 2010

last month at Four Seasons Sports Complex in Hampstead, MD.

An aggressive goal was set to raise $5000 for Preston.  Many people came out and donated and not only was the goal reached, but exceeded to $6800!!

Last year, during Thanksgiving week, 10 year-old Preston Scibek, of Hampstead, MD found out he had cancer. He has been very strong and brave as he’s battled it this past year. It’s a very rare cancer, but they’ve had a great team of doctors that have been working hard to cure him. They’ve been through tremendous challenges to fight this unfair disease. Preston is currently in Boston with his beautiful mom, Shareen, undergoing 6 weeks of Proton radiation. Even though his dad, Scott, and his brother Grant, are home in Hampstead, the family has worked hard at being an amazing team.
I love this boy and his family and hope that you will take a moment to check out Preston’s story.  Please click here to visit his CaringBridge site to read his story.

I would like to thank Four Season Sports Complex for reaching out the way they do for their community.  Thank you and all of the generous people that helped raise money for this beautiful family.

Pam Long Photography donated a gift certificate for a free photo session and wall portrait.  I was hoping that Preston could be the one that would reach in the bag and pull out the winner.  He and his mom had to leave for Boston while the fundraising event was still being held so Preston wasn’t able to pick the winning entry.  Then we thought that Grant, Preston’s brother, could pick the winner….but he was at a friend’s house the day I met Scott to draw the winner.  So…….I had both of my daughter’s with me when I met with Scott.  Of course, to keep it fair to them, we had BOTH of them pick a winner.  2 winners instead of 1, a nice bonus!!

Congratulations to Missy and Rod Atkins and to Nancy Suder.  We will be contacting you with information to claim your prize!  I’m looking forward to photographing your families.  Thank you so much for participating.

We are having an In Studio fundraising event for Preston on October 16th.  Please check out our blog tomorrow for the announcement of how to get your little ones here for our Halloween Charity Bash.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support and prayers for the Scibek family and for all families struggling with health challenges.

for you generosity.

The voting for the International Charity Model Search has ended.  Because of our wonderful families that participated and you, we raised almost $750 through your online voting in less than 2 weeks!!  That money will go to Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep to help support this wonderful organization.

I am so proud of the work our families did to get the word out.  They emailed their friends and families, they posted messages on their facebook pages and they made phone calls.  Great job!  I am incredibly honored to be your photographer and friend.  NILMDTS is near to my heart and I appreciate everybody’s participation.

Congratulations to all of the state winners! I love how all of the families and photographers around the nation worked so hard to bring awareness and donations to NILMDTS. We should find out soon what the total amount raised for the nation is; I will pass the info along.

Thanks again to my beautiful, wonderful families.

The Gibson family…

The Garner family…

The Luber family…

Three wonderful and beautiful families have partnered with Pam Long Photography this year to help raise money and awareness for the wonderful organization, Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.  NILMDTS provides remembrance photography to parents suffering the loss of a baby with the free gift of professional portraiture.  We believe these images serve as an important step in the family’s healing process by honoring their child’s legacy.  Please click on this link to see why I volunteer for NILMDTS and why the Gibson, Luber and Garner families are participating in this contest.

As many of you are aware, last year we were able to raise over $2500 in the votes cast for America’s Cutest Child.  Throughout the nation, over $164,000 was raised by people generously voting for over 2000 cutie pie models.  Thank you for your generosity and open hearts.  This year we are excited to be representing these 3 beautiful families.  Each family is near and dear to my heart.  Some have started as friends and became clients, while others have started as my clients and have become friends.  I love them all and wish them all luck.  I’m really, secretly, hoping for a 3-way tie!! 🙂

One more wonderful family to consider for the National Charity Model Search

1 04 2010

for America’s cutest family.

The Garner family!  This family portrait was taken on Rob and Denise’s 10 year wedding anniversary!  Rob, with great detail, secretly planned a surprise anniversary party for Denise at the Peabody Court Hotel.  What Denise knew was that she would be getting a new family portrait to display on her wall.   The portrait would be taken in the afternoon and then the family would be together that evening for a special dinner – that’s what Denise knew.  Plan “A” was for the family portrait to be taken on the steps of Mt. Vernon Place United Methodist Church, the same place that Denise and Rob stood ten years ago as bride and groom.  The weather didn’t cooperate so we stayed inside for their portraits, we were able to get wonderful images in their spacious penthouse room. Later that evening, Denise was brought to tears as the elevator opened to the terrace level at the Peabody and she was greeted by 100+ friends and family.

Last year, the Garner’s older 2 daughters participated in the National Model Search for the cutest kiddo.  Toward the end of the contest, Denise contacted me to see if there was a way to find out the number of votes cast for each of our models.  She and her husband, through The Garner Team at Coldwell Banker,  wanted to match the current donations of all of our models!  Instead of putting the additional money on their own children, they matched what each of the children currently had!!!  A totally unselfish, generous gift to the other models and to Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.

The National Charity Model Search contest raises money and awareness for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, a wonderful, charitable organization. Please feel free to click on the link to see why I became a volunteer for NILMDTS and why my studio and clients are participating in the contest.

Click here and you will go directly to the voting site.  Once there,  click on Tour City and scroll to “Baltimore”, then click on ‘Garner’.  You will then have the opportunity of voting for their family.  Each vote is $1, you can choose to cast any # of votes you’d like!  We, and NILMDTS appreciate all of the votes and your consideration.

Denise and Rob, thank you for your continued loyalty throughout the years, I love photographing your family.  Best of luck in the contest!  Thanks for helping us, once again,  raise money for this great cause!

Another cute family for the National Charity Model Search!

29 03 2010

The Luber family.  Wow, I’ve had a great time with them throughout the years.  I could link you to at least a dozen posts on my blog that have them or one of their family members involved in a Pam Long Photography photo session.

Last year, Steve and Mia’s oldest daughter won the National Charity Model Search for the cutest kiddo for Maryland!  Part of the prize that the state winner receives is a photo session by world renowned photographer, Sandy Puc.  Sandy coordinates this contest with her 52-city speaking tour (in the U.S. and Canada) so that the winners can be models on stage while Sandy  shares her techniques to the crowd of photographers attending her seminar.  The Lubers lived in New Jersey  at the time and as much as it pained Mia,  they weren’t able to make it to the seminar in Maryland last year.  They have since moved back to Maryland and are hopeful that their family wins for Maryland this year so that they have the opportunity to meet Sandy after all!

Steve and Mia, thank you for entering this contest and bringing more awareness to NILMDTS.  You know I love your family and always look forward to seeing you.  Best of luck!
