The making of a music video…

3 03 2014

or actually 4 music videos!

I had the great pleasure of spending a special evening with the uber talented Lauren Ruth Ward.  Lauren was performing a couple of her original songs, as well as a couple of covers, to create new music videos.

The filming took place at one of Ellicott City’s finest salons, Ooh La Lal, located in Historic Ellicott City.   We met after the salon closed and Joe Austin and Nick Hughes from Wolf Stream Media were on hand filming her.  They were meticulous while setting up the scene for the videos.  Joe and Nick went to work immediately, setting up their gear and creating the ambience that they and Lauren had discussed.

Lauren’s talent is off the charts, registering at about infinity!  Yes, infinity!  Her sound is ‘soulsy’ (if that’s a word), folky, rich, unique and just INCREDIBLE!  The lyrics of her original songs are emotional, dramatic, thought provoking. Please check out her YouTube page by clicking HERE   Lauren is an amazing, talented women.  On a personal note, she’s is a caring, beautiful, person with an immense passion for life.  I hope you take a moment to enjoy her sound, talent and vibe.

Lauren is excited about her next venture.  She was recently signed with Copeland Entertainment, a cutting edge boutique Personal Management Company. “I feel like it’s a new beginning and I have a lot of good vibes about it.  I’ve never been more focused, it’s easy to pursue something when you have somebody who believes in you and has the resources to make it all come together.  Life is but a dream.”

And I agree with Lauren, believing in yourself, and having others believe in you is immensely important.  Do you want to be successful?  Yes??  Then surround yourself with successful and positive people.  I see it in kids my daughter’s ages and, of course, with adults, that it seems real easy to be mean and spiteful and to try to tear people down, and I don’t understand that, never will!  Lauren is on her way with a terrific mentor and manager.  Dianne is a partner in Lauren’s life that is really going to help Lauren showcase her incredible talents. Thank you, Dianne! 🙂

Lauren, I believe in you and can not wait to watch as your career totally and completely blooms into more than you can imagine.

Go get ’em!  Much love and success to you.

Here’s one of the music videos created that evening by Joe and Nick….

Following are some photos of Lauren being Lauren.  You see, Lauren is not only a talented singer, songwriter, performer, but is also a model.  She’s sought after by many photographers.  We, along with other photographers, LOVE working with Lauren.  This particular day, Lauren just wanted to be Lauren.  She wanted her inner soul and spirit to show.  Natural, down to earth, vulnerable, her.  So these are just a few of what we created together.  Her inner beauty along with her outer beauty continually outshine each other.  Thank you, Lauren. xoxo

Focus on Ellicott City boutiques – A Journey from Junk {Commercial Photographer Ellicott City}

9 04 2013

Jounrey From Junk Commercial photographer

Since moving our Pam Long Photography’s studio to Historic Ellicott City, I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know the other business owners.  It’s really an amazing group of people that work hard to offer wonderful services and products to their customers.  I’ve always shopped on Main Street and it’s a ‘must-do’ for friends and family when they visit.  When walking the quaint streets of the town you’ll notice the uniqueness that it has to offer,  yet at the same time, comforting familiarity.  If you haven’t been down here lately, I hope you make a trip soon! 🙂

A Journey from Junk is vintage chic with a hip and funky twist! It’s one of my many favorites!  They just celebrated their 5 year birthday on Main Street, Ellicott City!  The same weekend of their birthday celebration, they opened their second store, right around the corner on Tonge Row (look for the fun blue door).  Kelli owns this awesome boutique and Tanya does a phenomenal job managing it with her!  They have a wonderful team of store employees; you’ll always find a happy ‘hello’ waiting for you.

They recently became our local retailer for the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint ®. They will be providing learning workshops in their new location, be sure to call them to add your name to the list, (410) 465-8330.

Kelli says that her love for all things vintage, old and well worn was her inspiration for her boutique in Historic Ellicott City.  And I can tell you from experience, you walk into her store and you instantly feel right at home with a certain amount of comfort and nostalgia.

As you walk around her boutique, you’ll find hand painted furniture, vintage home decor, chandeliers, women’s accessories, clothing, cowboy boots, jewelry, candles and bath and body.
We had a great time capturing the following images to showcase not only their fun and unique clothes they offer but their boutique as well.  Kelli and Tanya work hard to put the fun in funky!

Dearelder.com and Elder Mugleston

8 01 2009

So a few months ago Emily called me from Utah.  She works for dearelder.com and they were in need of a new “face” for their company. They held a contest and it brought in hundreds of letters, including one from Drew Mugleston’s sister.  After deciding the winner, it was announced that Elder Mugleston would be the new “face” on dearelder.com.

Emily then went website searching for a photographer in the Columbia area; I was happy to hear that she liked what she saw on mine.  She hired me to get the shots that she needed.

It was a pleasure working Elder Mugleston.  Each time he was here, he had his companion elders with him.  What a great group of guys.  Their demeanor, manners, humor…just FANTASTIC!    You boys can come back ANYTIME!

Here are just a few images from Drew’s photo session…

Now, while Elder Mugleston did some primping 😉  , Elder Greenwood stood in to help me test the lights!

Quite a good looking group, don’t you think?

Here’s a picture of the billboard in Utah….they will be completing his face soon 🙂

Emily, thank you for hiring me; I truly appreciate your business. It was great to work with both you and Elder Mugleston. If you are ever in Maryland, please look me up. I’d love to have you come by and visit!

Mrs. Mugleston, I’m sure you are well aware of this but I have to say it anyway.  You’ve done a marvelous job raising Drew and his sisters; big kudos to you and your late husband.  Drew represents the good in life.  As a photographer I have to say that he worked so well on the set, I’ll take 20 of him anytime!  As a mom, I’ll say  I can only hope that my girls grow up with the confidence, manners, love for people and intelligence that your son displayed each time he was here.  He spoke so highly of you and his sisters.  You have a beautiful family.  I’m honored to have met and worked with your son; I hope to one day do so again.

And to Elder Harmon, Elder Navarro, Elder Clayton, Elder Greenwood and Elder Borup you are welcome back anytime!  Honestly, you helped keep the set fun and real.  I know Elder Mugleston is glad that you all accompanied him.  Thanks for coming out.
