Ilchester Elementary prepares for a night at Camden Yards!

30 05 2011

Recently, the children and staff of Ilchester Elementary spent the morning with the very fun, hilariously animated Oriole Bird, the fantastic mascot for the Orioles!  Escorting the Bird were some of Howard County’s finest police officers.  And, although it was a dreary, rainy day outside, it was a bright and festive day inside the school!  Later that day, hundreds of the school children and their parents enjoyed a fun evening watching the game from the stands.

This was the seventh year that this phenomenal school community had attended Ilchester Night at Camden Yards!  Each year, several hundred people from Ilchester Elementary School make it an evening at Camden Yards.  When ticket sales begin, typically several weeks before the game day, the parents are asked if they’d consider purchasing an additional ticket to be used as a donation.  Donated tickets in the past have gone to the The Kennedy Krieger Institute as well as the Ronald McDonald House.

This year, for the third year in a row, the tickets were donated to the Howard County Police Department’s BearTrax Kids Program.  This is a mentoring program for elementary school children in Howard County who are deemed “at-risk” by their school administrations and would otherwise, for a variety of reasons, not have the opportunity to attend a baseball game.

The students at Ilchester are learning a valuable lesson about the differences between them and the caring of their neighbors.  Ilchester Elementary School is also fostering a wonderful relationship of cooperation between IES and the other elementary schools in Howard County, MD.  They hope to continue this for many years to come.  And, as a mother of two children at Ilchester, I hope they do too! 😀

Their night at Camden Yards was eventful, definitely a nail biter.  It went into 15 innings!!  Unfortunately, the Yankees walked away with the win on the scoreboard.  But I believe that the Ilchester staff, and children, along with their families, walked away with the win in their hearts!

Thank you to everyone at Ilchester, the Howard County Police Department and the Orioles organization for continuing to go above and beyond in providing for our children!  We certainly appreciate you! 🙂

I hope you enjoy this video of the student’s fun morning with the Oriole Bird!

Thank you!

Welcome home, Max!

While most people were celebrating with joy during the July 4th weekend, this family was mourning the loss of their dog, Tootsie.  She was a beautiful dog and a family member to the Lopez family for many years. She is missed dearly.

Eventually mom started visiting the Animal Welfare Society in Howard County to check out other doggies.  She wasn’t anxious to adopt another dog but thought if she saw one that seemed right for them, there might be a possibility of a new family member.  In time,  one caught her eye.  She brought her son the next time to check him out.  She went back to start the adoption process only to find out that someone else had already begun the adoption on that dog.

She returned several times, keeping an open mind and open heart…and then…there he was…Max!  It was evident that Max really wanted to go home with Sarah and her son, Tito.  Not only did Sarah notice Max, but  when she returned another day, Max remembered Sarah and got her attention how ever he could! 🙂

This guy is soooooooooo cute.  I had the honor of documenting their day as Sarah and Tito picked Max up from his temporary home, took him to his appointment at PetSmart for his shampoo, blow dry and teeth brushing and then to his new and permanent home.  What a joy to watch Tito fall in love with Max, referring to him as “my buddy” and taking complete ownership in his care.  He is so proud of his buddy Max!

Here is Tito’s buddy, Max. Walking out of the animal shelter and into Tito’s life…

Home, Max is HOME!!

This image warms my heart…

I hope you enjoy this slideshow of special moments from The Day in the Life of Max…..

Sarah and Tito, thank you so much for allowing me to hang out all day with you to capture these special moments.

Hayley and Lexi, thanks for being great little helpers so I could do this for Max and his family.  Special thanks to Hayley for videotaping part of the day!

Please call Pam Long Photography to see how they can document a special day in the life of your family!

for Mary Elizabeth!

Jen and Bill welcomed Mary Elizabeth into their family yesterday afternoon. She is absolutely adorable.

We arranged to document her big brothers’ reactions as they met her for the first time. It was nothing short of magnificent. It didn’t take William and Ford long to fall in love with this precious bundle of pinkness. She’s a princess and so blessed to have 2 wonderful big brothers and Jen and Bill as parents.

Here are just a few pictures from the day…

Mary Elizabeth, born September 26, 8 pounds, 8 ounces, 21 1/4 inches…

Here are the moments that big brothers, William and Ford, saw there baby sister for the first time…

Counting her toes…

This is one of my very favorite family pictures…EVER…

Thank you, Jen and Bill, for this awesome honor of documenting your day. I loved every minute of it. I appreciate you allowing me to share this beautiful experience with your family. I’m looking forward to going through all of your images. It was wonderful to see Aunt Sherry, Gigi, Nana, and PopPop as well. Enjoy this magical time together.

Lots of love.

A fun and relaxing vacation…

28 07 2008

We just returned from a fun family vacation in Ocean City.  We had fantastic weather, lots of beach time, fun waterslides and best of all, GREAT family time!

I’ve put together a slideshow.  Mostly water time, a photo shoot with the girls on the beach and boat time with our friends Anne and Mike.  Hope you enjoy. This is also an example of the slideshow that is included in the “Day in the Life of …….” portrait session.  Contact me for details.

CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE SLIDESHOW.  Some images were taken with my iPhone so the quality isn’t the BEST.

Here are a few photos from the week.

Daddy and the girls…

Lexi is finally starting to have fun in front of the camera. Usually she can sense it from a mile away and takes off running. Here, her pants are wet from running in the ocean and she’s full of sand, but I love it…

Adorable image of the girls…

Now, as you are probably aware, most hotels have a “foot shower” that you can use so you don’t track sand throughout their hotel. Hayley took it to a whole new level…

I love this of Hayley and Lexi…
I feel like I need to explain that image because you can see sand but there is no water!!! Yes, I saturated the sky in Photoshop but I didn’t remove the ocean! The tide that morning created a cliff, literally it looked like a vertical wall. There was about a 1 1/2 – 2 foot drop off and then you were in the water!

At the end of the week, we were able to visit our friends, Anne and Mike and their adorable children William and Ella. You’ll see several images of their family in the slideshow. Here’s a photo of Anne taken during the fun boat ride they gave us…
Thanks you guys for your awesome hospitality. You provided a phenomenal finale to our vacation.

Me and the girls…

Johnny, enjoying the boat ride…

Some of the images you’ll see in the slideshow were taken at Slide and Ride on 65th Street.  We had a blast. They have waterslides, basketball courts, miniture golf, a moon bounce, ‘paddle’ boats for kids and more.  We had so much fun there and very reasonably priced.  So if you have children and are going to vacation in Ocean City, check them out!
