A gorgeous 08-08-08 for Alicia and Gray.

14 08 2008

I had the pleasure of witnessing Alicia and Gray exchange vows at Prettyboy Reservoir late Friday morning.

They could not have chosen a more beautiful day. When I walked outside to load my gear into the car, I was taken back by the cool, crisp air. It was weather you expect to find on a gorgeous fall day, late September, certainly not on an August day. I was elated for this couple.

The drive to their home, combined with the awesome “fall day” was truly a great start to my work day. I drove the rolling hills, saw people riding horses and even said moo a few times when I passed a cow. It was going to be a GOOD day! 🙂

I had the pleasure of meeting Gray, of Manna Bros. when he came to give us a bid on finishing more of our basement for my studio. My husband and I knew that he was ALRIGHT! Not only did he have a great track record, but he understood my need for attention to detail because his work would represent my work. And let me tell you, they did a phenomenal job! They were there each day with great attitudes, worked late into the day, were pleasant to my girls and performed top notch work. Not only did they meet the expectations he promised but exceeded them! That is something that I strive for everyday with my business, to aim high and land higher, and it’s refreshing to see someone else handle his business the same. Okay, that wasn’t intended to be a commercial for Gray, but there you have it! 😉

This was the first time I met Alicia and she was everything Gray said she was. He spoke highly of her the very first time we met him. I know, sweet, huh?

They are doing some remodeling in their beautiful home. Along with some paint samples that were attached to the walls, I saw this…and smiled…

Kristen and Jeff…

12 07 2008

…oh my gosh, I have so much to say….about this beautiful couple, their fantastic and unique wedding day, their wonderful families and friends.

I know I’ve said it before (over and over again), besides being a mommy to my beautiful girls, I have the best job in the world. I get to witness people becoming husband and wife and it is just such an honor and privilege. Thanks Kristen and Jeff for trusting me with this huge honor.

Somehow I end up with the best couples EVER! and Kristen and Jeff were nothing short of the best. Jeff’s son Mason is a doll and I’m so glad that we could hang out again. Mason, you are going to love your pictures!

We began their day at the DoubleTree Hotel in Annapolis. I love when the guys and girls are all getting ready at the same place. When we get to hang out with the boys as well, it allows us the opportunity to tell the whole story in their album.

Okay, Jacquie Hannan, a phenomenal make up artist and hair stylist (yes, 2 in 1 and great at both) had been with Kristen since early morning. Sidebar….I had worked with Jacquie during somebody’s boudoir session, she rocks. If you ever need a hair or make up person, she’s your girl! Kristen looked fantastic and was cool as a cucumber when Tracy and I arrived. There was a very slight panic in the room while everybody searched for her mom’s diamond stud earring. Luckily, it was found. Go Tracy! 😀 I’d love to share where it was found, but not without permission from mom! 😉

I’m doing something a little different for Kristen and Jeff. I’m posting a slideshow on my blog instead of individual images. I always present a highlights show at the reception of images taken that day…but posting one on my blog is new to me. I’m used to telling the story of the day in between images when I post my blog; since I’m presenting the slideshow, I must fill you in prior to viewing!!

They were married at the beautiful Calvary Methodist Church in Annapolis. Pastor Brought and his staff were tremendous. Paster Brought performed a really nice ceremony for Kristen and Jeff.

They have beautiful grounds at Calvary. After taking the formal portraits inside the Church with the families, we headed outside with the bridal party and had a great time. It was 150 degrees 😉 , but I never heard one person complain. One of the ‘must have’ shots that Kristen wanted was under an archway that had the letter “A” on it. Hiking through the woods paid off, we found the ‘archway to Annapolis’.

Here’s where some of the uniqueness (that is a word, right??) comes into play. I rode with the wedding party in the limo while Tracy headed back to the hotel to get detail shots and images of the guests at the cocktail hour. Tracy soon called me and informed me that the hotel was closed…that there was a fire…and that 7 firetrucks were there! No word as of yet if or when it would be reopened. First I asked her if everyone was okay, then I asked her to make sure she’s catching on film!! 😀 Which she was.

Bobby, Kristen’s brother, my great “go-to-guy”, made sure that Kristen had no idea of what was going on back at the hotel. We were flirting with dark skies heading our way and knew that our time outside was going to be cut short due to rain. Great, there’s our plan to stall. Once the rain started, we took cover at Phillips for a pre-reception cocktail. Tracy had called me a couple more times to tell me that they were going to reopen shortly! WOOHOO!! When we got word that the hotel reopened, Bobby filled her in with what was going on at the hotel. You will see images of Kristen’s face when she’s being told about the news of the fire.

The Annapolis firefighters were awesome. They took care of the electrical fire quickly and efficiently. Thanks to all of the firefighters, YOU ROCK!

It’s seems to me that at least once at every wedding I photograph, I’m glad that I have my camera to hide behind because I’m overcome with emotion at some point of the day. There are so many poignant, touching moments. My moment on this day came when Kristen told me that her grandfather, who passed away, was with the FDNY….he was watching out for everyone.

The Klassix, rocked the afternoon into the evening. I had the pleasure of working with them on another occasion and was really looking forward to hearing them again. They were GREAT, it’s obvious that they have a great time while they work! Everybody loved them.

OKAY, TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES WITH THE SLIDESHOW…can you believe it?? It’s not loading! I just heard back from wordpress and they don’t accept Flash…..I will get it up and running somehow. But, in the meantime, here are some images from their glorious day…

Love this one of her dad walking with her while carrying her train…

Check back, I will figure out somehow to get the slideshow up and running.

Kristen and Jeff, you are absolutely great together. All day long you genuinely smiled at each other and couldn’t take your eyes off of each other. The mutual love and admiration you have for one another is acutely evident. You were so gracious to everyone and really showed your families and friends a great time. I wish you a wonderful long life together.

Mary and Walter, again, thank you for referring me. You know how much I appreciate you.

Lots of xoxo

Meghan and Jay…

14 06 2008

…are an absolutely beautiful couple. These two are so loving. Not only to each other but to everyone around them. You can literally feel the love in the room when you are with them.

I honestly don’t know where to start with telling their story. I will try to share their day with you through my eyes.

They had a fantastic day planned. Their church would be a gorgeous place to marry, they had a trolley car scheduled to pick up Meghan and the girls at the hotel and bring them to the Church. We would have 30 minutes to capture great images of their families and bridal party at the Church before heading out in the trolley to explore Baltimore for an hour prior to arriving at their reception place. I was really looking forward to being a fly in the wall and observe… & click! 😉 … as this day would unfold. I had previously met Meghan’s mom and some of her bridal party at Meghan’s dress fitting and they were a great group of women…I knew this day would be a fun, joyous and beautiful day! And it was!!

Sit back, grab a drink and enjoy their day.

Tracy and I met Meghan, her family and her bridal party at the Marriott Courtyard in downtown Baltimore. It was great timing…as we were waiting for the elevator in the parking garage, Meghan and her mom, Patty, and her future mother-in-law, Kathy, were just returning from the hair salon. Already she looked stunning.

Okay, so in the hotel rooms, were more wonderful people. Truly, I’m not sucking up, we met fantastic people throughout the entire day.

Let’s just start with Isabella, Meghan’s niece, shall we…
Photobucket

oh……my……gosh……is she a cutie or what??
Photobucket
…she loves her strawberries.

Then there’s the other little cutie in the room, Luke. He’s a doll too. Here he is when he first took a look at this thing that he’s supposed to get around his neck…

Aunt Meggie to the rescue…

Their rings are beautiful…

Meghan’s grandmother was a very important part of Meghan’s life. They were extremely close. Meghan made sure that her grandmother was part of her day. “Something Blue” was her grandmother’s sapphire ring…

Something borrowed, her grandmother’s bible…

How sweet is this shot…can’t you just read Luke’s face???…

After Meghan gave her mother a beautiful plaque (which none of us could read because we knew it would bring tears), they share one of many “happy tears” moments…
Photobucket

While trying to head outside for some bridal portraits…who knew that you would need a key card to go outside? 🙂 , we took this shot of Meghan while waiting for a key…
Photobucket

Another very touching, beautiful moment. We managed to get outside for a couple of minutes before the rain visited. While taking Meghan’s bridal portrait, she looked down at her grandmother’s ring and was overcome with emotion…
Photobucket

We headed to the Immaculate Conception Church in Towson. A beautiful church. The weather pros had called for severe thundershowers for several hours during the day. The rest of the day it would be ‘non-severe’ showers 😉 . Well, the only time it was truly severe was the time that everybody was inside the Church. Thank you, God. It was as if He planned it that way. We did have challenges throughout the day with sprinkles and subtle downpours 😉 , but it was AWESOME how it all worked out.

Here’s a great image that Tracy captured before the girls headed down the aisle…

Here’s Jay, the handsome groom with his brother and best man, Scott, escorting their mother…

We left the Church and enjoyed a ride on the trolley with the bridal party. Laketa, with American Limousines, Inc. did a great job driving everyone around. We stopped at the Washington Monument and Federal Hill. Here are some of the images from our fun Baltimore drive…

First, let’s start with the trolley “rule” (courtesy of the bridal party). Whenever the bell rang, Meghan and Jay had to kiss…

Meghan and Jay, words cannot express the joy and love I feel for you. You have a tremendous future to look forward too. You were such a gracious couple on your wedding day. I never once heard you complain about the rain (even when we had to run from it, or take cover under the umbrellas). Meghan, I’ve never seen, and probably will not see again, a bride in her wedding dress pick up her niece and give her a strawberry to eat…while still holding her!! You are a loving, unselfish, giving couple and I’m thankful and grateful to have witnessed your incredible day.

To everyone in Meghan and Jay’s families, their bridal party and awesome guests…Tracy and I had a fantastic time with you all. What a fantastic group of people with which to spend the day. Thanks for making our job soooooo fun.

xoxo and lots of love.

Karen and Scott host a fantastic time…

26 05 2008

…for their family and friends.

Karen worked hard on every detail to have a magnificent day, and it was MAGNIFICENT!!

This is the only time I’ve ever agreed to photograph 2 weddings on the same day. I knew we’d have the energy and stamina to last throughout the day….(knowing that it would hit us the next day!), with the help of Robin and Debbie.

Fellow photographers and friends Robin and Debbie worked hard with me to coordinate the ceremony and portrait portion of Karen and Scott’s wedding day. They joined me for the engagement session and we turned into the ‘paparazzi’…(though a gentle and loving type paparazzi);-) . We met in my office one evening and covered every last detail of the wedding day and I knew I had the right photographers working with me. To both of you, thanks for the communication throughout the planning/coordinating and thanks for a fantastic job capturing Karen and Scott’s beautiful ceremony. You did a spectacular job.

Karen was a great bride with which to work. She was so well organized, never skipping a beat, never missing a detail…all while keeping a very pleasant attitude.

It was important for Karen and Scott to enjoy as much time with their guests as possible on their wedding day, so they chose to get all of their portraits taken prior to their ceremony instead of cutting into their cocktail hour with friends and family.

They were married at Good Shepard United Methodist Church in Silver Spring. It’s a beautiful church with a private courtyard. The courtyard is where we arranged for them to see each other for the first time that day.

Karen looked gorgeous…

and obviously, Scott agreed…

Encore entertained Karen, Scott and all of their guests. They rocked the entire night and kept everybody on their feet. They were phenomenal!! Anybody out there looking for a fantastic band that knows how to entertain, check them out!

Brittany, the coordinator at the hotel was great. The first time I met her I was meeting with Karen. I loved how she was down to business, effective and very accomodating.

Karen had spoken so highly of Reverend Joye. Robin and Debs certainly came back singing her praises as well. Thank you Reverend Joye.

Tracy, as usual, you’ve done a great job. I always know that you’ll have a great outlook and a positive attitude throughout the day and I appreciate that. You were just as energized in the 14th hour as your were at the start of the day…thank you for always being consistent. xoxo

Mary and Walter…thanks again for referring me, you rock…
Photobucket

Karen and Scott, you’ve got a great start to your new life together. You had a hotel full of friends and family that love you and wish you the very best. There was great energy in that room and I know it’ll be with you always. Thanks for trusting me and my team to document this awesome time in your life. We truly enjoyed capturing these memories for you.

Aubrey and Eric had a beautiful day…

What a great way to start our Saturday of double feature weddings.

Aubrey and Eric are such a sweet couple and Tracy and I were really looking forward to documenting their wedding day for them.

Dr. and Mrs. Richard Kobetz…

What an honor we had last weekend photographing the wedding of Mary and Dr. Kobetz. Mary is the mother and mother-in-law of two of my favorite people, so I’ve had the pleasure of knowing her for several years. She is a beautiful, gracious and sweet woman. I’ve heard wonderful things about Dr. Kobetz for quite some time now it was great to finally meet him.

They had their ceremony and reception at the beautiful and historic Whitehall Manor in Loudon County, Virginia. The staff was amazing, they were inconspicuous as they moved around the room, yet stayed ahead of the guests needs. The food….oh my gosh….I had a couple spoonfuls of their crab soup….the BEST I have tasted, and I’ve tasted some good crab soup in my day! And once we packed up the car, I did enjoy a delicious strawberry shortcake! Thank you! 😉

An outdoor wedding had been planned, the grounds at Whitehall are amazing. But because of rain, plan B went into motion and it was just as beautiful.

Here is Mary being escorted down the aisle by her sons, Steven and Cliff…

The ceremony was very meaningful and as Dave, the owner of Whitehall said, right on the mark. Soon after it began, Dr. Kobetz reached over to Mary, kissed her hand, hugged her…it was heartwarmingly beautiful…and then they continued with the ceremony….
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Phot

obucket

During the ceremony, doves were to be released. Judge Michael Valentine performed the ceremony, he explained to the guests, “Doves mate for life and are a symbol of love. Tradition holds that if doves are seen on your wedding day, happiness is assured.” Dave Rhein of Cornucopia Farm offered a great solution so that the 30 doves could still been seen on their wedding day. Tracy, my fantastic 2nd photographer, was a trooper and went outside in the rain to get several photographs of the doves, here’s one of them…

Olivera Music Entertainment provided the entertainment for the evening. Their sound was magnificant, they were professional and great to hear throughout the evening.

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing Mary’s children and their families through the years and it was fantastic to see them all under one roof…with Dr. Kobetz’s daughters and family…they are beautiful people and so much fun.

There were so many wonderful musicians that we had the pleasure of listening to, I wish I knew all of your names to thank you personally.

And Cliff, Happy Birthday to you! 😉

To Mike, thank you, thank you for your continued service to our country. I appreciate the freedoms that my family and I enjoy because of you and our service people… 🙂
