Maternity session in the Studio…

20 12 2008

with Alicia and Gray.

I was totally looking forward to seeing this awesome couple again. They own Manna Bros Home Improvement and I met Gray earlier this year when he came and put a bid on finishing part of my basement for my client presentation room (and may I add did a fantastic job completing the project).  I photographed their wedding and loved the vibe they have with one another and with their families.

Look at how beautiful Alicia is…

Thanks for having me catch this moment for you!

Katie + Scott = LOVE (to the nth power)

1 12 2008

OH My gosh what a great time we had with Katie and Scott on their wedding day. I’m thrilled to be finally blogging about them. I knew that with a November wedding I’d be up to my eyeballs with photo shoots and holiday cards and prints for my portrait clients and that it would take longer to finish editing their wedding, but it was killing me not to blog about it as fast as I’d like. It was such an amazing day….

Their special day was nothing short of incredible. Katie was as kind and sweet and beautiful as she always is and Scott was so handsome and ready to take on the role as husband. I met Katie and Scott through the phone, they lived in Massachusetts and were planning their wedding long distance. I had a fun time getting to know them during their engagement session, click here to view their e-session.

We began this gorgeous fall day at the Hilton Garden Inn . Katie and her ‘girls’ were having a good time while getting ready. Everybody was calm, friendly and so considerate to one another. There was a great ‘energy’ in the air.

Cara and Mindy from Up Do’s For I Do’s did an amazing job with Katie’s hair and make up.  Future brides, consider this company for yourself and your girls; they are fantastic to work with and great with their talent.

I love the casual elegance of Katie’s hair. She’s got the perfect hair for this….and it lasted throughout the entire day…

Check out this beauty…

To see each other or not??? prior to the ceremony, that is the question that many couples ask themselves. For many reasons, Katie and Scott had decided that they would take the group portraits and bridal portraits prior to their ceremony. I’m very sensitive to this request because as a photographer, I take responsibility of everything going smoothly. You want to make sure that the walk down the aisle is still fresh and exciting even though they’ve spent a considerable amount of time together already during portraits.

Well let me tell you….these two are sooooooooo much in love, they could have seen each other all day long and still have that magical emotion during the ceremony. It’s truly awesome to watch them interact with each other. The admiration, respect and love that they share is evident and abundant!

THE FIRST LOOK…
The bridal party was driven to Federal Hill by Xtreme Limo (huge props to them, very courteous and professional). The party stayed in the limos as I excorted a very handsome and somewhat nervous Scott to his “place”, his back toward Katie’s direction.  As Katie calmly yet anxiously walked toward Scott, you could see the emotion building for them both.  Katie probably felt that stroll was 5 miles long.  It was a fantastic first look. Though the park was filled with people sitting and reading books, kids playing on the playground, families and couples out walking, it was as though they were the only 2 people in the world. And that is the goal for “The First Look”. Intimate, private, beautiful. A memory that will last with them forever.

Here are just a few of the images for their emotional wedding day greeting…

When Katie and Scott were ready, the bridal party emerged from the limos and joined in for a fun portrait time…

Tracy captured this. I love it. Katie’s mom and dad obviously approves… 😉

We had a great time at Federal Hill before heading off for the ceremony at St. Benedict’s Church.

The walk down the aisle and greeting Scott at the alter was magical. Here are a couple of great shots that Tracy got of this moment…

After getting some nice portraits of the bridal party and families at the Church, we headed out to Overhills Mansion, a beautiful facility located outside of Baltimore.

Katie and I spoke several times on the phone in the months leading to their wedding day. Several times she commented on how fortunate she felt that they had great vendors that she trusted for their day. One of them she was totally thrilled with and could not stop raving about was Fischer’s Bakery (I think is is now Sweet Bakery Cafe)  in Ellicott City. Living here in Ellicott City, I have occasionally gone inside for a sweet treat but had not worked a wedding that featured one of their cakes. Let me tell you, repeatedly that evening, I heard how yummy the cake was. And check out how BEAUTIFUL it was…

Now, I don’t quite know how to explain this next image. Scott is a very kind, sweet, studly and handsome man. I would not consider him a ‘dork’….but… with the right music, he morphs into one! He had everybody in hysterics during this song. Click on this link to YouTube for the full version, courtesy of his dad.
