Sherry and Chris already had one beautiful child, sweet Kayleigh. Last year they welcomed their second child, adorable baby Colt. What an honor it was for me to go to the hospital the day he was born to document the first day of his life.
I LOVE photographing the moment when older siblings meet their new baby brother or sister.
We’ve had the pleasure of knowing Sherry and Chris for several years now. She worked for Trinity Homes when we bought our house. Beautiful woman, beautiful personality. Before I was a professional photographer, she and Chris asked me if I could photograph their wedding. Yikes! I had only photographed one wedding and it was with the understanding that even though I worked hard to learn different aspects of photography I wasn’t a professionally trained photographer, I didn’t have duplicate equipment should something break, and if something went wrong, well….I’ve heard horrible stories. So, I borrowed another camera so I could use one for black and white film and the other for color (hadn’t made the digital switch yet), read more books, practiced more, asked questions from some mentors and I had a nice (albeit nervous) time photographing Chris and Sherry’s ceremony.
Chris and Sherry are those people, that whenever you see them, it’s always a pleasant time. Their goodness is infectious and it definitely was passed onto their daughter Kayleigh.
Fast forward several years from their wedding and baby Colt is about to arrive and be welcomed into this wonderful family. I quietly stepped into their hospital room and was instantly in awe of this darling little baby! He was truly magnificant and such a cutie pie. Then I saw Sherry, holy cow!!!!, you would have never known that she just gave birth…she was beautiful and obviously in love with the newest member of their family.
Here comes Kayleigh, so excited to meet baby brother, Colt!
They had to hang out in the hallway for a little while….but it was fun!!
I hope you enjoy this slideshow. It tells the story of a portion of Colt’s first day. Kayleigh was so excited to meet him as she came running down the hallway, gift in hand to give baby brother. Oops….then she had to wait because it was time for the nurse to check on Sherry and baby Colt. Kayleigh (and dad!) played in the hallway to pass time and then…..it was finally time to get the family together!!
Sherry and Chris, THANK YOU for allowing me into your life and into this very special and intimate day. I hope you enjoy reliving Colt’s birthday. Love you all!

Peace out, little guy. It was so awesome and such an honor to hang out with you on your birth day! xoxo
