THANK YOU!

A very successful fundraiser for Preston Scibek…

4 10 2010

last month at Four Seasons Sports Complex in Hampstead, MD.

An aggressive goal was set to raise $5000 for Preston.  Many people came out and donated and not only was the goal reached, but exceeded to $6800!!

Last year, during Thanksgiving week, 10 year-old Preston Scibek, of Hampstead, MD found out he had cancer. He has been very strong and brave as he’s battled it this past year. It’s a very rare cancer, but they’ve had a great team of doctors that have been working hard to cure him. They’ve been through tremendous challenges to fight this unfair disease. Preston is currently in Boston with his beautiful mom, Shareen, undergoing 6 weeks of Proton radiation. Even though his dad, Scott, and his brother Grant, are home in Hampstead, the family has worked hard at being an amazing team.
I love this boy and his family and hope that you will take a moment to check out Preston’s story.  Please click here to visit his CaringBridge site to read his story.

I would like to thank Four Season Sports Complex for reaching out the way they do for their community.  Thank you and all of the generous people that helped raise money for this beautiful family.

Pam Long Photography donated a gift certificate for a free photo session and wall portrait.  I was hoping that Preston could be the one that would reach in the bag and pull out the winner.  He and his mom had to leave for Boston while the fundraising event was still being held so Preston wasn’t able to pick the winning entry.  Then we thought that Grant, Preston’s brother, could pick the winner….but he was at a friend’s house the day I met Scott to draw the winner.  So…….I had both of my daughter’s with me when I met with Scott.  Of course, to keep it fair to them, we had BOTH of them pick a winner.  2 winners instead of 1, a nice bonus!!

We are having an In Studio fundraising event for Preston on October 16th.  Please check out our blog tomorrow for the announcement of how to get your little ones here for our Halloween Charity Bash.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support and prayers for the Scibek family and for all families struggling with health challenges.

Happy Birthday, Joan!

4 10 2010

Joan recently celebrated her 80th birthday!  Her children and their families were all in town to celebrate throughout the weekend with her.

My arrangements were made with Suzanne, daughter-in-law to Joan.  During our conversations, I quickly realized that Joan and her family were very special people that cared for each other tremendously.  But when I met them, I truly  saw first hand how wonderful they all are!  A fun group of beautiful people! Joan and her husband, Bill, have awesome children.  They and their families made my day of work turn into a fantastic day of laughs.  It was great to be able to document them interacting with each other, joke around during the family portraits and sit down to enjoy a delicious meal with each other.

I was lucky enough to have Anne Looney work with me.   Not only was she a huge help while we worked, but it made 4 hours in the car go by so quickly!  Thank you, Anne, it was really fun to work with you!

Thank you to Bob and Liz for opening your home to us. To Suzanne for your time in coordinating everything. To my beautiful friend, Jen for your referral.

To Bill and Joan and your entire family, thank you for making my job so much fun!
