What clients are saying…

Having known Pam Long for several years, but never having the chance to work with her made me really excited to have the opportunity to not only work with her, but to document our family’s 40 years in business. Pam was ahh-mazing. She made each one of us feel at ease, and with a four and six year old, it just made this family time much easier. Pam is an incredibly talented photographer, capturing many special moments of all of us. While the photo shoot was a lot of fun, I really was dying to see the pictures. Pam assembled a beautiful slide show for us to enjoy. So much so, I was teary-eyed just seeing the six of us come together. I am looking forward to our photos arriving, and to be working with Pam again, as she documents our 40 year celebration!

Pam’s customer service is unmatched.  After selecting our photos, she came to our home to help measure space where our family canvas would hang, and when it arrived she hung it for us.  I cannot get over how much Lucas and Landon have  grown and changed in just one year’s time.  What an incredible moment in time Pam has given us.

-Angie Tersiguel

During our photo shoot for our two little girls, we found Pam to be much more than a photographer.  She was a true artist – able to bring out and forever capture those precious little smiles, silly giggles, and playfulness of childhood.  When we received a card in the mail with pictures of our girls on it a few days later, tears came to our eyes, because they were the most beautiful portraits we had ever seen.  We know that these portraits, of two little sisters, will bring joy to our family’s homes for generations.

~George and Noelle Jackson

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure what we’d encounter on our first visit to Pam Long Photography…maybe an aloof photographer bossing us around, or another in a long line of trigger-happy “professionals” who’d take 100 shots just to get 1 usable pose. Thankfully, the experience was fantastic and has only gotten better on each subsequent visit.

It’s a rare thing to find someone who is both approachable on a personal level and a consummate professional, but Pam is that rare person. She’s fantastic to work with, and truly cares about giving us the best experience. I couldn’t be happier with our sessions and the resulting photos, and I look forward to future sessions.

~Christopher Masak.

Celebrating the wonderful Tersiguel family!

9 07 2015

If you have been to Tersiguel’s French Country Restaurant, then you know how amazing their fabulous cuisine is! In fact, they are celebrating their 40th anniversary of being in business this Saturday! I am thrilled and honored to be photographing this auspicious, sold out, event. We are all so excited about this major milestone and their outstanding accomplishment in Historic Ellicott City.

The founders of Tersiguel’s, Fernand and Odette Tersiguel, are amazing people and I’ve enjoyed getting to know them.  They are an incredible example of the benefits of hard work and determination. They came to the United States in 1963.  In 1980, they opened Chez Fernand on Main Street.  Sadly, the successful Chez Fernand burned to the ground in the fire of 1984.   Fernand and Odette persevered and  re-opened Chez Fernand in downtown Baltimore.   Fortunately for us, they wanted to return to their beloved Ellicott City and Tersiguel’s opened it’s doors, in it’s current location, in October of 1990.

Chef Michel is a 1984 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York. After his time in New York, he worked in Baltimore, with his family, he also worked in France and in California (with Michael Chiarello) and later served as Chef de Cuisine at Left Bank in Larskpur.  In 1997, he returned to Ellicott City to take over as Executive Chef and owner of Tersiguel’s.

In addition to valuing and serving magnificent food, they also value family and preserving family history. I had the honor of photographing three generations of Tersiguel’s: Fernand and Odette, their son, Michel and his incredible wife, Angie, and their two beautiful boys; Lucas and Landon. What an fun morning portrait session we had, it was such a glorious day! I was fortunate enough to have Lauren Ward assist me on this sunny day with this very special family. We were inspired by an family photograph of Fernand and Odette taken on their wedding day, in 1963. (They just celebrated 52 years of marriage!) Congratulations! So, we, too, took a family portrait, and used Tersiguel’s as the backdrop. We also created portraits of this beautiful family inside Tersiguel’s, in the Brit dining room. The Brit is short for the Brittany Room. This refers to the region that Fernand and Odette are from. The dishes in this room are called Quimper. That is also the name of the city in which they are made.  Angie shared with me that Quimpler is one of the coolest places she’s been (perhaps that could be the location of your next family portrait session…..I travel 😉 ).  Be sure to view their story and history via their lovely portraits, as they are displayed throughout their restaurant.

Tersiguel’s French Country Restaurant is located at 8293 Main Street, Ellicott City, MD.  Be sure to visit and dine in this delicious  restaurant, voted Best French Restaurant in Howard County, Maryland.  This is definitely a restaurant that your meal time will become a wonderful dining experience and you’ll leave with delightful memories. Tersiguel’s has been the perfect setting for countless birthday celebrations, weddings, anniversaries, graduation festivities, business functions…..imagine if THOSE walls could talk, what an extraordinary story they would tell.

To Fernand, Odette, Michel, Angie, Lucas and Landon, thank you for allowing me the privilege of spending time with you, to get to know you better, and to document more of your family history, what a great honor. I enjoyed my time with you and look forward to enjoying many more great moments together!

To the entire staff, past and present, of Tersiguel’s, thank you for continuing to strive for the best.  You really help provide memorable moments for your dining guests, thank you.

I hope you enjoy these family portraits that we created together.

Until next time, au revoir and bon appetit!

Family portraits at the Baltimore Harbor

28 11 2014

I don’t even know how to start this blogpost…..I’ve known Vanessa for several years now.  We met through the Maryland Professional Photographer’s Association years ago when we both had photography studios in Howard County.  She was the go-to photographer in Howard County for high school seniors, created incredible family portraits for her clients and has an immense wealth of info between her ears about photography and business! 🙂 After having her sweet baby boy, she decided to retire from the photography industry and move into another direction. I’ve learned so much from her and thankful for our friendship.  When she contacted me recently to create their new family portraits, I was elated…and honored…and nervous!! 😀

We are all familiar with (& live) the cliche’ that time flies…and it does…and Vanessa did not want another moment to go by without celebrating their family. When we got together for their portrait consultation, she had a lot of ideas. We were able to discuss them and really design a session that fit their needs and worked well for their family.  We were happy to be able to schedule their photo shoot during the time that Vanessa’s parents would be in town.  I was so happy to be able to create their extended family portrait along with Vanessa and Daniele’s family portrait.

Vanessa and I scoped out lots of different, potential locations throughout Baltimore a couple of weeks prior to their portrait session.  It was a great excuse to get a good walk in, catch up and find the perfect locations for their family.

The day of their shoot…wow, such a fun time with their awesome, beautiful family!  The weather was PERFECT, which photographers always hope for, but never count on. 🙂 The style and color choices of their clothes couldn’t have fit more perfectly into the Baltimore Harbor backdrop.  Talk about color harmony…..fantastic job, Vanessa and Karen!

“Dear Pam,  My heart is overwhelmed with how beautifully you photographed our family during our recent family portrait session in Baltimore! To see the natural expressions and playfulness that we enjoy on a daily basis actually captured in professional portraits brought tears to my eyes. (Okay, who are we kidding – I wept a little bit.) You took the time to listen to what we envisioned for our family and made it a reality. The investment we made by choosing you as our family photographer is worth every dollar! My heart is full.” Vanessa Ard

Vanessa and Daniele, thank you so much for choosing me to create your new family portraits.  It meant the world to me and I’m thrilled that you are so happy with the results. I know what it meant to you and I admire you for being so vulnerable and allowing me into the the intimate setting of your family. Love you both!

Alia’s Senior Portraits and some beautiful family portraits too! {Howard County Family Photographer}

23 04 2013

We had a fantastic time photographing Alia for her senior portraits. It was great hanging out with her, she’s quite an amazing young lady.

Happily, we were able to coordinate the timing of her photo shoot with her brother’s college break. This gave us the chance to create some fun images of the two siblings as well as family portraits! Don’t be mistaken when you watch the video, there is a brother, a sister and a mom. You will think there are 3 siblings, nope….mom is a gorgeous woman that looks like she could be their sister! Alexander, Alia and Nicole, I’m so glad we were able to spend the afternoon with you all. The respect and love you show toward each other is inspirational.

Thank you, Nicole, for contacting Pam Long Photography for Alia’s senior portraits as well as your family portraits.  I loved hanging out with you and your awesome, beautiful children!  I know how proud you are of them, and rightly so.

Here are some of their beautiful portraits along with their video that showcases some of the fun we had together.
